Start at 8 am for the day trip to Tsomgo lake, 35 kms, which has different charm as the lake is situated at 12,400 feet- where as Gangtok is at 5,500 feet. Change of vegetation along with altitudinal variation is a must to observe. Lake is regarded as sacred as the meaning itself speaks of the head of the lake. In between, halt at Kyongnosla waterfalls.

 

Through a winding road with Rhodendron bushes and shrubs arrive at 17th mile Check Post. Hike to Kyongnsola Alpine Sanctuary, on the trail for around two hours, find plenty of birds and flowering plants. Return to the road further drive to Tsomgo Lake, it is one km in length and half a km deep. It has large number of Rainbow Trout. Lake is situated at an altitude of 12,400 feet. Spend time around walking or riding on yak. Tsomgo Lake is sacred and wishing lake, especially during the winter season, it is carpeted by snow. A Later return to Gangtok.
